Government will continue to monitor Assemblies activities- Minister

The Minister, Hon. Dan Botwe, says the Government will closely monitor all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCES) to ensure they perform their mandate for the development of their localities.

According to him, revenue mobilization, local security issues  and other Assembly matters are prior responsibilities of the MMDCEs

The MMDCEs, he emphasised, should also collaborate with chiefs to ensure proper development and peace in the area and assured that the government will keep local assemblies Chief Executives on their toes to fulfil their mandates.

Hon. Botwe said these when he called on the Oguaa Omanhen, Nana Kwesi Attah II, paramount chief of Oguaa traditional area during a 3-day workshop for MMDCEs from the Western, Eastern and Central regions.

The Minister added that Ghana has come far as a country because of rules and regulations of nananom (chiefs) and for that matter, their contribution to development cannot be over-looked.

Nana Kwesi Atta urged the MMDCEs to consult chiefs whenever they engaged in any developmental project so as to know the exact need of the people.
