Honourable Daniel Botwe, Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD), has disclosed that Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs)

will be trained for better performance to deepen local governance at the local level.

The Ministry will retool and revamp the Institute of Local Government

Studies (ILGS) to train local government functionaries and staff.

These were in a speech by the Minister at a three-day zonal refresher training programme for 69 MMDCES in three Regions at Cape Coast in the Central Region. The programme will address challenges of managerial competencies and professionalism for better performance.

The refresher course, categorised in four zones is a follow-up of national orientation organised for MMDCEs in Accra held last October.

The Minister noted that except Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Adaklu, and Akatsi North in the Volta Region, all MMDCEs have been confirmed and assumed office.

He encouraged the Chief Executives to use the training to engage their peers and the professionals to gain knowledge to improve their performance.
