Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Joins National Leaders to Bid Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II Farewell

In a grand display of tradition, reverence, and unity, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, joined President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and several high-ranking government officials at the final funeral rites of the late Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The ceremony, held at Mampong in the Ashanti Region, brought together a cross-section of traditional rulers, political leaders, family members, and thousands of mourners to honour the life and legacy of the revered Paramount Chief.

As Minister with oversight of Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim was officially informed of the royal funeral rites in accordance with customary protocols. His presence signified not only the state’s recognition of the pivotal role of the Mamponghene in national development and traditional leadership but also the Ministry’s respect for Ghana’s enduring chieftaincy institution.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim conveyed the Ministry’s deepest sympathies to the Mampong Traditional Area and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and strengthening the chieftaincy institution as a pillar of local governance, heritage, and national identity.

“Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was not only a custodian of tradition but also a leader whose wisdom and foresight impacted lives beyond his traditional jurisdiction.

His passing is a great loss to the nation,” the Minister remarked. The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs stands in solidarity with the Mampong Traditional Council and Asanteman during this period of mourning, as the legacy of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II continues to inspire generations.
