The maiden National Sanitation Day cleanup exercise in Accra witnessed strong citizen participation, with youth volunteer groups and entertainers joining hands with government and traditional leaders to clean the capital.
Among those who took part were the Buzstop Boys, a youth volunteer group known for their sanitation advocacy, who cleaned along the Agbogbloshie Scrap Market area.
In a show of civic spirit, veteran musician Akosua Agyapong and her team also joined the exercise at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, urging Ghanaians to take sanitation seriously as part of their national duty.
> “We all have a role to play in keeping Ghana clean,” she said. “This is about our health, our image, and our future.”
Their participation highlighted the growing public ownership of the sanitation agenda and the importance of volunteerism in sustaining a clean Ghana.
