Minister swears in Ahafo MDCEs

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr George Boakye has charged the various Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to see their appointment as an opportunity to represent the President in their areas..

He made the call during the swearing in ceremony of the various MDCEs in the Ahafo Region at the Regional Coordinating Council in Goaso.
 
His Honor Charles Kwasi Acheampong, Presiding Judge of the Goaso Circuit Court administered the oaths to: Ernest Kwarteng (Tano North), Collins Offinam Takyi (Tano South), Anthony Mensah (Asutifi North) and Robert Dwomoh Mensah (Asutifi South).
The rest are Yaw Osei Boahen (Asunafo North) and Frank Aduse Poku (Asunafo South).
 
In his address, the Minister on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude to Nananom, leadership of the various political parties, Members of Parliament, Assembly members, Personnel of the various security agencies and other stakeholder for a very smooth process of confirming the President's nominees with overwhelming endorsements across the Region.
 
He emphasized that, the cooperation of the leadership of the NDC in the Region with regards to the confirmation of the MMDCEs needed to be underscored since it was a clear sign that democracy in the Region is maturing and urged that it shouldn't be a nine day wonder.
 
He charged the MMDCEs to work harder to deal with the issues of sanitation and environmental challenges, low revenue generation, inadequate infrastructure, high rate of unemployment among others.
 
He stated that the MMDCEs must adopt the President's vision to build a country of opportunities for all by making sure that all policies are fully supported to ensure success.
 
The Regional Minister hastened to add that in order to achieve the best result for the people of Ahafo, there was the need on the part of the MMDCEs to adopt greater collaboration between their offices and Nananom, heads of department, Members of Parliament, religious leaders, NGOs opinion leaders as well as all partners in developing across the Region.
 
The Minister also charged them as political appointees responsible for the assemblies to ensure that all the laws and regulations regarding the judicious use of public funds are upheld. Reminded them of the Public Procurement Act 2003 (Act 663) and the Public Financial Management Act 2016 (Act 921) as well as the Local Government Act 2016 (Act 936)
Nana Ansah Adu Baah, Omanhene of Yamfo and on behalf of the Regional House of chiefs, lauded President Nana Akufo-Addo for his choice of MMDCEs in the Ahafo Region.

The President of the Ahafo Regional House of chiefs advised that since most of them served in the last four years, they must quickly put their together in order to have a good start.
He added that they must eschew selfishness in their line of duties since a lot is expected from them.
 
Yaw Osei Boahen, Dean of MMDCEs on behalf of his colleagues expressed appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana for the confidence reposed in them.
 
He also thanked George Boakye, Nananom, Members of Parliament, Assembly Members, leadership of various security services and the leadership of the various political parties for the massive support thus far.
 
He assured that he as well as his colleagues will do everything within their power to ensure that the Ahafo Region will be up to speed with regards to development and further called for the continued support of all and sundry.
