The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah has sworn into office, 39 out of 43 confirmed Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Region.
The colourful ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Yaa Asantewaa building of the Regional Coordinating Council.
Speaking at the event, Mr Osei Mensah urged the new MMDCEs to eschew corruption, but rather be transparent in the discharge of their duties and also tasked them to work closely with all stakeholders to bring development to their respective areas.
Mr. Simon Osei Mensah in his speech asked the MMDCEs to tackle issues related to security, illegal mining and revenue generation in their various District and Municipalities.
“I am confident and trust in the capabilities and competencies of each one of you to deliver. It is, therefore, my expectation that you stay focused and committed and defend the gains made in the implementation of the numerous social interventions, policies, and programmes,” He said.
He then appealed to the MMDCE’s to give reverence to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and all other chiefs within the region.
