Offinso North District Assembly celebrated the completion and handover of significant projects from the third cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project. The day also marked the graduation of 101 beneficiaries from the Cash-for-Work program, symbolizing a journey of growth and achievement.
The GrEEn Project, supported by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), showcased its profound impact on the region. The event highlighted major infrastructure improvements, including concrete footbridges and borehole drilling, which have transformed Offinso's landscape. These projects align with the broader goal of enhancing local resilience and sustainability.
The ceremony paid tribute to Mrs. Emelia Botchway, a respected leader in the Ashanti Region, whose passing was honored with a moment of silence. Her legacy underscored the importance of dedication and contribution to community progress.
Gratitude was expressed to the EU and UNCDF for their essential role in the project's success, and to the steering committee members for their oversight and technical support. Over two cycles, the GrEEn Project has bolstered the region’s climate resilience and infrastructure, reflecting a harmonious balance of development and sustainability.
The event also celebrated the achievements of 125 local community members who participated in the Cash-for-Work program. Their graduation, supported by SoS Children’s Villages (SoS), marked a significant step in their personal and professional growth, with training in skills such as soap making, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
As the ceremony concluded, there was a strong call for the continued operation and maintenance of the new infrastructure. The community was encouraged to sustain the benefits of these projects and seek further support from stakeholders to extend and enhance the GrEEn Project’s positive impact.
