GrEEn Project Enhances Local Development in Sekyere Kumawu

The 3rd Cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project marked a significant milestone with the completion and hand-over of several key infrastructure projects in Sekyere Kumawu District. This initiative, funded by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), focuses on building climate-resilient infrastructure and promoting local economic development.

Key achievements include the construction of a 1200mm diameter pipe culvert storm drain at Esereso to Kumawu, part of a broader effort to improve local water management and support sustainable development. Additionally, local community members have benefited from the Cash for Work (CfW) component of the project, receiving training in employability life skills such as soap making and entrepreneurship through the SoS Children’s Villages.

A total of 117 beneficiaries, including 110 women, have completed the Employability Life Skills Programme, which aims to enhance their economic opportunities and resilience.

The Ministry expresses deep gratitude to the EU, UNCDF, and local stakeholders for their support. Looking ahead, there is a call for continued investment to sustain and expand these vital projects, ensuring that communities affected by climate change and economic challenges continue to thrive.
