Ejura-Sekyedumase Marks Completion of GrEEn Projects

Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly recently celebrated the completion of key projects under the third cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project. The ceremony also honored the graduation of 117 beneficiaries from the Cash for Work (CfW) program, who completed the Employability Life Skills Programme led by SoS Children’s Villages.

The GrEEn Project, supported by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), delivered significant infrastructure improvements, including the paving of 3,276m² of Sekyedumase Market and the construction of two market sheds. Previous cycles funded essential projects such as culverts, road improvements, and a borehole with an overhead tank.

The event included a tribute to the late Mrs. Emelia Botchway, recognizing her contributions to regional development. The Deputy Director of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, representing Minister Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah (MP), expressed gratitude to the EU and UNCDF and highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to climate-resilient infrastructure and local economic development.

The Cash for Work program provided 117 local workers with skills in soap making, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. The ceremony concluded with a call for continued support and investment to sustain and extend the project’s benefits to the community and beyond.
