Bono East Regional Minister Kwasi Adu Gyan has sworn into office nine Municipal and District Chief Executives out of the eleven that President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated in the Bono East Region.

The colorful event was held at the Bono Kyempim Hall in Techiman.
It will be recalled that, the President by article 243 (1) of the 1992 constitution which gives him the power to nominate Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives nominated ten (10) males and one (1) female Chief Executives for approval by their Assemblies in the Bono East Region.
Bono East Regional Minister, Kwasi Adu Gyan, in collaboration with all the Assemblies went by the constitutional provision which states that nominated MDCEs should be confirmed or otherwise by their Assemblies through voting within twenty-one days.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, the Minister, Kwasi Adu Gyan, thanked the chiefs, the Assembly members and the people of the various Assemblies that have been able to approve their nominees.
He said the fate of the two (2) nominees who were rejected during the approval polls now lies with the President for re-nomination or otherwise. He hoped that the Nkoranza South Municipal and Pru East District Assemblies will do the needful at the second chance to enable the Regional Coordinating Council get its full complement.
He hoped that the new Municipal and District Chief Executives will discharge their duties creditably to justify their nominations by the President adding “your overwhelming endorsement were ample affirmation of the confidence and trust the people had in you, and I expect you to live up to expectation”.
He admonished them to be innovative, unique and different in the way they do things saying “you should explore and adapt the practical use of ICT as a tool to improve efficiency of the services you deliver to the citizenry, improve efficiency in revenue collection harness the tourism potentials in your Districts, enhance security, protect the environment and ensure prudent use of resources”.
The Regional Minister further tasked them to always ensure peace, law and order in their Assemblies noting “all the plans and programs of government will come to naught if there is no peace”. He also told them to help develop a Region where everyone will have access to quality education, good health care, water and sanitation, decent housing, clean environment, electricity, good roads, productive employment among others.
He finally reminded them that there are people on the touch line ready to take -over their positions if they fail.
He then administered the oaths of office, secrecy and loyalty to them after which they signed their appointment letters.
Deputy Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Techiman South Constituency Hon. Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah who was at the ceremony on behalf of the Ministry congratulated the new Municipal and District Chief Executives on their appointments.
He asked them to serve impartially and steadfastly. He continued that they should respect the chiefs and people in their various Assemblies adding that they are to serve them and not Lord over them. He said the Ministry will periodically appraise their work to see how they are performing.
The Minister hoped that they will work hard to justify the confidence that the President and their Assemblies have reposed in them so as to achieve the aim of the government and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Municipal Chief Executive for the Atebubu/Amantin on behalf of his colleagues Municipal and District Chief Executives thanked President Nana Akufo Addo for the confidence reposed in them by nominating them and the chiefs and Assembly members in their districts for endorsing their nominations. He promised that they were going to work hard to justify the confidence that the president and the people have reposed in them.
President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V who spoke on behalf of the chiefs in the Region thanked President Nana Akufo Addo for creating the Region for them which has brought about they swearing in their own Municipal and District Chief Executives.
He advised the new Chief Executives to give maximum respect to the people that they are going to serve adding “You are coming to serve us but not lord over us”. He added that Nananom own all lands in their various areas even before the advent of colonialism so if you a District Chief Executive and you do not give respect to Nananom, it will not matter the developments programs that you are bringing you will not succeed.
The program was very colorful and successful without any hindrance of any sort.
