2010 – the Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP) implementation commenced to help GoG improve its SP spending, expand LEAP coverage nationwide and increase access to employment and income earning opportunities for poor households
- Funding of GSOP:
- US$138.6 million World Bank support aimed at:
- improving the targeting of SP programs
- providing income-support to poor households through LEAP cash grants
- expanding LIPW infrastructure in targeted district
- The project also supported:
- the preparation of the NSPP
- initiation of the SP bill and
- strengthened inter-ministerial coordination between MoGCSP and MLGRD.
