Akumadan recently celebrated the completion of the third cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project, highlighting significant local development and economic progress.
Supported by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the GrEEn Project has delivered critical infrastructure improvements, including the construction of 400 meters of storm drains and the repair of a borehole at Darso in the first cycle. The latest cycle focused on enhancing market infrastructure, paving a 5442m² yam market at Akumadan, funded with GH₡339,631.00 from the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly.
The project’s Cash-for-Work (CfW) program has provided employment to 101 locals, with additional training in life skills such as soap making, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship through SoS Children’s Villages.
The event also honored the late Mrs. Emelia Botchway and recognized the essential contributions of the EU, UNCDF, and various government agencies. As new infrastructure projects were officially handed over, the importance of ongoing maintenance and stakeholder support was emphasized to ensure the project's long-term impact on climate resilience and economic development.
This event marked a significant milestone in community development and showcased the GrEEn Project's role in fostering sustainable progress.
